Substance Beyond Bullet Points

As we approach the primary on February 20th, I’m starting a series of posts to help share what I think is important for our School District moving forward. I think it’s also very important to review the successes and progress that we have made since I took my seat three years ago and even further back than that. We need to know what has happened in the past - good or bad - to be able know what we need to do moving forward.

My goal in this series is to go beyond the bullet points. I put up a post on my Facebook page (and the list is on my homepage)  a few weeks ago that highlighted what I have been proud to support and what I think we should focus our future on. However, our community deserves more than that. They deserve to learn the story behind them, the details behind them. It’s one thing to list something like ‘Increase Student Achievement’ (and I’d argue who has ever run for School Board who wouldn’t want their student body to achieve more) or as I did back in 2021 “be more transparent,” but it’s an entirely different matter to explain the ‘hows.’

How have you gone about it or how will you go about it?

How are you going to measure success? How would you propose you go about moving to achieve those goals? How would you approach convincing the other Board members to come along with you?

As you review my page, you’ll see that what I try to do is provide details… you’ll see why I voted the way I did. You’ll see, and continue to see, an explanation beyond the bullet points. You’ll see the why… not just I’m for or against something. I know that everyone will not agree with me all the time.

As I mentioned at the start, this is the beginning of a series of posts. I look forward to sharing many more with you over the next few weeks as we head into Primary Day on February 20th.
