In this post, I want to spend a couple of minutes revisiting how important I believe the curriculum review process is and what I plan to do going forward.
I've written about how important reading, writing, and math is to establish a core set of knowledge within a student and how leveraging that information will allow a student to be able to critically think for themselves.
Having been in Corporate Training for upwards of 17 years, I have experience in understanding curriculum and standards and being able to think through what would work best for a varied audience. I think that experience allows me to bring a unique perspective to the T&L Committee and the Board.
My commitment moving forward on the Board and the Teaching & Learning Committee is to continue to take all the time necessary to review the curriculum that is under consideration, continue to request access to everything so that I can fully experience the material, and to listen to all of the feedback provided by our teachers and administration so I can share my thoughts about our best move forward with my fellow Directors.
We've made some great strides in proficiency within the last few years and I pledge to do what I can to continue that momentum for the benefit of all our students.
More details will be coming on those other items that I believe are important to the Germantown School District moving forward.
