Focus on the Future

Before I spend time on some individual topics that I believe are important for the GSD and what my specific commitments are, I wanted to take a few minutes in this post to provide a more comprehensive list of those items that you'll be hearing directly from me on.

First, when I sat down to think about what I wanted to focus on for this campaign, I thought about the past. To know what direction we need to go, we need to understand where we have been. If we ignore the past, we may end up making the same mistakes that were made then or start to revert back to being a less successful district. We need to look at what has worked and still could work going forward and what needs improvement.

So what is important from my perspective for the Germantown School District and what I would focus on in my next term?

I want to:

Prioritize the curriculum review process focusing on reading, writing, and math.

Minimize political ideologies in the classroom.

Continue a fiscally conservative approach to District's finances.

  • Continue streak of balanced budgets (without relying on fund balance).

  • Increase our fund balance to meet our board goals - eliminate cash flow borrowing.

Build and formalize a Strategic Roadmap for the next 5-7 years.

  • As part of the strategic roadmap, I feel that the Identification of important metrics is key to track improvement so that appropriate action is taken to continue to improve or course correct.

  • Start working on an Outdoor facilities plan. Continue to build and improve Family & Community partnerships.

Continue to improve upon our school safety plans.

More details will be coming. Thank you for reading.
