As a parent in the district, one thing that has been important to me has been communication from teachers, building leadership, and the district.
Even before I was on the Board, I advocated for better communication.
Once on the Board, I made sure to continue to share how important communication was, and that it needed to get better.
Ultimately, the District implemented a plan to be better, and more consistent, and to share the information that was most important for our families.
We conducted a survey of all families, representing attendance at all of our schools, and the results were very positive. Across the board, our scores were high when it came to our efforts.
Overall, 94.5% of the families who responded – over 650 of them – said our communication was effective or very effective.
Survey results start on page 77.
Parents need to know what is going on in our buildings so that they can participate. I believe that is one of the most important things we need to do: Partner with parents in their child’s education.
I’m proud of what the district has done to improve our communication.
My commitment when reelected is to continue to make sure we keep delivering when it comes to communicating with our families and community, and that we do what we should to keep those survey scores high.
